Animal Voices series
Living close to a 5.6 mile county parkway near our home & studio, deer are a part of our landscape. This piece is a tribute to these gentle creatures along with a gratitude for their aversion to the wild daylily.
A limited edition (5 prints, 8″x11″) combines four distinct images into one, adding hand coloring with pencil to enhance the work. Each is printed separately with an inkjet printer on my handmade paper from a cotton blend fiber. Original imagery is rendered in gouache and pencil; calligraphic, abstract lines, based loosely upon Arabic lettering, uses sumi ink and a Hunt, extra-fine pen point.
This piece was included in the 2022 Pyramid Atlantic Members’ Exhibition.
