This two-part piece is inspired by The Guild of BookWorkers , the Delaware Chapter. After perusing the science library of sample books at The Donald F. and Mildred Topp Othmer Library of Chemical History online, members were invited to create his or her own sample book. Mine is based upon hand-papermaking, and incorporates the decades on my hands-on experience with whimsy, in the character of Prudence the Rat. While the information on the hand-papermaking is as accurate as memory and research permit, the history of the collaborative friendship is fiction.
